About this site

This website is my personal space online where I’m planning to post updates about my projects, and some random thoughts. I don’t like blogging very much, I prefer to work or spend my time with family instead, but dont’ worry, I will keep you updated on my achievements from time to time. The name of the website precisely describes what programming is for me (it was inspired by wordpress.org pages where it was located at the bottom of every page).

I don’t like talking about myself because I think it’s boring but if you must know something about me, you can go ahead and read below.

About me

My name is Andrew and I’m a 22 year old programmer living in Russia. I have 2 years of experience creating and supporting a government online service built with PHP/PGSQL (sorry, can’t reveal all the details here), and was a co-founder and C++ programmer of FlashBurn Studio.

We’ve used a lot of different technologies working on game development using WTL (later wxWidgets) for utility programming, OpenGL/OpenAL for graphics and sound (later DirectX), LUA (+luabind) as game scripting language. Oh boy, that was a serious experience.

Doing jobs creating and supporting various websites and software here and there for many years it was natural for me to become a full-fledged freelancer. Most of projects I’ve worked on were really interesting and inspiring. And frankly, I don’t like working on a project that isn’t excting for me, that’s why most of my projects are creative and fulfilling one way or another.

At this moment I am well versed in:

  • C/C++, Win32 API, Qt
  • PHP 4 and 5
  • SQL
  • JavaScript (I’ve got experience working with pure DOM but lately I’m using jQuery/jQueryUI and Mootools)
  • AJAX, – yes, it’s popular to ask about it now, so yes I use it a lot
  • (X)HTML, CSS optimized for cross-browser compatibility
  • Linux, writing bash scripts sometimes for my projects
  • CMS/Frameworks: WordPress and CodeIgniter

I’ll publish some of my work on this site a bit later. Some of my personal projects are available on the main page.

Lately, I’ve been looking for more gigs, especially from clients outside Russia. I am even thinking of relocating elsewhere, because I see more opportunities for me around the world and being in Russia for a guy like me doesn’t quite cut it. I am dreaming of a place where my services will be in demand, paid well and where climate is warmer. So, if someone needs a young and creative programmer for on- or off-site work, you can hire me using the contact form on the Hire me page.
